Part of the summer long programme of Windrush Day 75 Grant Scheme events, the Street Feast follows last weekend’s successful Windrush Regatta event, which was featured on ITV Anglia news and saw 1,000 people enjoy a free afternoon with DJ sets by Freedom Sound System’s Bopper Rankin and Trevor Jones’ steelpan band workshop. The afternoon also featured drum and art workshops.
Suffolk Windrush Committee member and Woodbridge resident, Doreen Pegg, said: “Last Sunday was very successful and people really enjoyed the music and workshops. So I’m looking forward to this next event, as well as the projections on the Tide Mill and flag raising on 22 June - and the nearly sold-out Aswad show in August. We also hope to see everyone for the afternoon of activities in Ipswich on 22 June.”
DJ Bopper Ranking, of Freedom Sound System and Ipswich Community Radio, said: “The event was great and it was good to see so many different people out. There was lots going on, the atmosphere was great and the food was good too!”
