It will give people living with dementia in the local community an opportunity to take part in a fun and stimulating social activity.

The older adult living with dementia will be accompanied on the golf course by an experienced instructor, golf volunteers and Home Instead care professionals. Thanks to support from Seckford Golf Club, people with all experience levels are welcome and there will always be a helping hand to help get a hole in one!

As a home care company that looks after people with dementia, Home Instead Ipswich is keen to partner with local clubs, like Seckford Golf Club, to develop the local community to be dementia friendly.

The launch of the dementia friendly golf day will take place on the 2nd of November and then will take place on the first Wednesday of every month between 2pm-4pm.

Joanna McCall, General Manager of Home Instead Ipswich, said: “I am delighted to be working with Seckford Golf Club to offer dementia friendly golf to our community, it will be a lovely monthly event for people living with dementia and their families to go and play golf. It will be wonderful for clients who may have played golf in the past to revisit and reminisce on their past hobby. Equally it’s a great opportunity to learn a new skill for those who haven’t played before; it’s never too late to learn!

“Our care professionals, who have extensive dementia training, will be on hand to ensure that those playing golf are well supported.”
