A call to residents, to those commuting to work and visitors: if possible, please try not to use your car before 1pm on Tuesday 2nd September in and around Woodbridge. The Station and Deben car parks will be closed, many streets in the historic centre of Woodbridge will be closed and we are advised to expect Thousands of visitors in Woodbridge.
We are honoured to have been chosen by the powers that be to host the start of the first stage of the Tour of Britain Men’s cycle race. The race will start at the top of Quay Street and proceed out of Woodbridge past the Shire Hall and up Burkitt Road and then out to Great Bealings. It should be a really enjoyable morning for all if we can avoid traffic gridlock. The A12 and the roads through Woodbridge are likely to be subject to significant delays during the morning and access will be essential for emergency vehicles.
Please be aware that traffic will start to be busy from the previous Saturday. On Sunday 31 August, there is a ‘pedal and picnic’ Sportive event on Kingston Field which will spread out along three cycle routes.
So please if you can get around on foot, bicycle and train this will help to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
