Cyclists soared through Suffolk in a thrilling finale of the AJ Bell Women’s Tour at the weekend.

Racers began the final stage in Haverhill at 11am Saturday, October 9, with cyclists hurtling through Woodbridge around 3pm before crossing the finish line in Felixstowe shortly after.

Hundreds of spectators lined the streets across the county to watch some of the world’s best cyclists battle it out in the hotly contested finale, and we were thrilled to see so many faces out in Woodbridge.

In the lead up to the stage six, there were four different stage winners: Marta Bastianelli (Alé BTC Ljubljana), Amy Pieters (SD Worx), Demi Vollering (SD Worx) and Lorena Wiebes (Team DSM).

Elisa Balsamo (Valcar – Travel & Service) was the final stage winner, with Demi Vollering (SD Worx) clinching the overall victory and being crowned the 2021 AJ Bell Women’s Tour champion.

It was a privilege to witness some of the world’s best cyclists coming through our lovely town and we hope you all enjoyed being able to see the live action!
