Whisstocks Place houses the Woodbridge Museum where you can wander through the history of Woodbridge. From Tudor times to the present day. Read or hear about Thomas Seckford and the Lockwoods or the artist Thomas Churchyard who has painted the landscape of two centuries ago, just the beginning to delve into Woodbridge’s rich heritage.
You must visit the Woodbridge Riverside Trust, the Longshed where you will find the King’s River tapestry, an inspiration to create a tapestry detailing the life of the River Deben. Over 50 volunteers from Woodbridge and the area are involved eventually creating a 90 feet/30 panel tapestry.
Also at the Longshed is The Sutton Hoo Ship’s Company who are recreating the famous Sutton Hoo burial ship using 5th century boat building methods to authenticate the build. A fabulous project involving over 100 volunteers.
Whilst you are there, take some leisure time and stop for refreshment at 3 venues, the Woodyard, Coffelink or the Boathouse where you will be spoilt for choice.
There are a variety of events taking place at Whisstocks so keep an eye on our Events Calendar to see what is coming up.
