About the Music
Leading local rockin’ band, JS & The Lockerbillies, apply a distinctive twist to cult classics; both updating the golden age of jive and pre-dating R&B standards. Their sets can turn everything, from Johnny Cash to Fleetwood Mac, into hollering Tennessee thunder.
Maella grew-up in Prague’s jazz clubs, but went through a sonic reinvention when she ran away to London, aged 20, to discover her dark, alt-pop side. After gaining airplay on BBC London radio, presenter Jess Iszatt confessed she was ‘falling in love’ with her music. By October 2022 Maella had been made an ambassador for Spotify Equals, with her image being projected onto sky scrapers around New York’s Times Square. She returns to Woodbridge having wowed the crowds at 2023’s Summer’s festival.
Local singer Chloe Lupton is a 22 year old, classically trained vocalist. She studied music, acting and dance from the age of 15 and her inspiration is drawn from soul, jazz and R&B. Chosen as a newcomer for the New Dawn Stage at this year’s First Light, she made her Woodbridge debut at this summer’s Woodbridge Festival in Elmhurst Park; where she was filmed by ITV Anglia News.
East Of The Sun are a four-piece band based in Woodbridge. Formed in 2018, their sound is inspired by Sixties pop, Motown soul, jazz and blues.
Ben Osborne is the founder of Noise of Art and Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music. He DJs internationally, curates music and art events for festivals, galleries and venues, and writes about music for DJ Magazine and other music titles. He’s the author of the Arctic Monkey’s biography (Omnibus) and other publications.
