Over the August bank holiday weekend the Woodbridge riverside will play host to an exciting array of events to celebrate the past, present and future of the area. The Woodbridge Historic Festival sees the collaboration of many local amenities, charities and businesses to present the following events:
Live music and dancing, yoga, street art and face painting are just some of the fun we have planned. Anglo Saxon themed food and drink will also be available along with all the usual delicious offerings that can be sought out along Tide Mill Way!
The beautiful Longshed tapestries will also be on display in the gallery to the atmospheric backdrop of The Kings River Opera which will be playing, on loop, from 12pm – 5pm.
Join us for a nautical themed sing along and Trawlerman’s Supper (vegetarian and vegan options available on request) as we continue the maritime themed celebrations, into the evening, in the John Gibbins Gallery. The event is BYO but takeaway drinks are available from The Woodyard restaurant next door.
Tickets - £15 available from The Longshed Gift Shop or online at www.woodbridgeriversidetrust.org/on-line-shop/tickets/sea-shanty-evening-ticket/
We hope to have a few interesting boats to great you on the Sunday. Why not see Woodbridge from the river itself as the 5th Woodbridge Sea Scouts will be offering boat trips all weekend? On Sunday they will be accompanied by Dragon boats!
Sae Wyfling, our much loved half length replica of the Sutton Hoo saxon ship, will be on the water. Meanwhile The Sutton Hoo Ships Company will be welcoming all to see the latest updates on their brilliant work in the Longshed. If that’s not enough for you we are also working with The Woodbridge Model Boat Club to try and bring you an opportunity to view some of their incredible model boats.
The Voyages of Bumble Chugger! The Woodbridge Riverside Trust are delighted to bring you a presentation of Robin and Gillie Whittle’s new book, The voyages of Bumble Chugger by the authors. Come along to hear first hand of the many adventures shared on the couples Cornish Shrimper.
The book is currently available to buy in The Longshed Gift Shop and there will be an opportunity for book signings along with tea and cake! Don’t miss out on a rare opportunity for a selfie with Bum Chug, the couple’s inflatable tender!
Tickets - £5 available from The Longshed Gift Shop or online at www.woodbridgeriversidetrust.org/on-line-shop/tickets/the-voyages-of-bumble-chugger-tickets/
Bank holiday Mondays are all about trying something new so why not get involved in a craft morning, suitable for all ages, at the Tide Mill from 10am - 12pm. Over in The Longshed Gallery nautical games and activities will be available for all the family.
Meanwhile the Woodbridge Museum will be open all weekend 10.30 – 4.30pm and The Woodbridge Art Club warmly invite you to enjoy their Summer Exhibition open 10am – 4.30pm on all three days of the festival.
